The achievements of ISRO
ISRO, The Indian Space Research Organization, is making
India proud by giving tremendous success in the field of space research. The
Indian Space Research Organization, ISRO started working form nothing and now
through immense efforts it becomes one of the greatest space research organizations
in the world.
Its Headquarter is in
Bangalore, Karnataka. In the year 1962,
ISRO was formed superseding ISCOPAR (Indian National Committee for Space
Research) which was formed by India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru and renowned scientist
Dr. Vikram Saravai.
The first ever satellite
, Aryabhatta made by ISRO was
launched in the year 1975 by Soviet
Union. Then we had no launch vehicle. In
the year 1980, ISRO built its first
ever launching pad, SLV-3 which
successfully launched satellite Rohini.
Then ISRO subsequently developed two other rockets –PSLV (the Polar satellite Launch Vehicle) and GSLV (Geosynchronous
Satellite launch Vehicle). PSLV rockets helps to launch satellite into the
polar orbits while GSLV helps placing satellite into geostationary orbits. This
was one of the huge successes for ISRO because thus we become less dependable
on others while launching satellites. These two satellites launched numerous satellites
since then. Satellite Navigation Systems like GAGAN and IRNSS have been deployed.
In 2014 ISRO successfully
used an indigenous cryogenic engine in a GSLV. ISRO sent a lunar orbiter, Chandrayaan- 1 in 2008 and a Mars orbiter,
Mars Orbiter Mission in 2013 successfully. India became first nation in the
world to reach Mars orbiter in its first attempt. ISRO becomes fourth space
agency in the world and first space agency in Asia to successfully reach Mars
orbit.
It also created a
world record by launching 104 satellites includes 93 satellites from US by a
single Rocket in 2017. In the same year
it launched its heaviest rocket PSLV-C37 capable of launching 4 ton heavy
satellites.
It has been a very interesting journey for ISRO since it was formed
and hopefully it will enrich our India as a nation by giving more and more
successes ahead.
